Organic pigment sourcing: FAQs

Concise answers to the questions buyers and search engines ask most.

What organic pigments does Source From India export?

Source From India exports high-demand phthalocyanine blue and green, diarylide and arylide yellows, naphthol, lake, DPP and quinacridone reds, diarylide oranges, carbazole violet, and ready-to-use pigment pastes for FRP, polyester, epoxy, PU, and water- or solvent-based systems.

Which pigment is best for plastics and masterbatch?

For plastics and masterbatch, buyers usually select high heat-stable grades such as Pigment Blue 15:3, Pigment Green 7, Pigment Yellow 83 or 138, and Pigment Red 254 (DPP). The right choice depends on processing temperature, migration resistance, and light fastness for the end use.

What is the difference between Pigment Blue 15:3 and 15:1?

Pigment Blue 15:3 is a green-shade beta-form phthalocyanine blue with high tinting strength, while Pigment Blue 15:1 is a red-shade alpha-form blue. 15:3 is the most widely sourced blue for paints, inks, and plastics.

Do you provide TDS, SDS/MSDS, and COA documents?

Yes. Technical Data Sheets, Safety Data Sheets (SDS/MSDS), and Certificates of Analysis are available on request, along with REACH and RoHS declarations and export packing details for customs clearance.

Which countries do you supply organic pigments to?

We support B2B buyers across the Middle East, Africa, Europe, the Americas, and Asia, including UAE, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Italy, USA, Brazil, and Vietnam, with export documentation and shipment planning.

What is the minimum order quantity and lead time?

MOQ and lead time depend on the pigment grade, packing, and destination. Share your product code, monthly volume, and target market and our export desk will confirm MOQ, price, and shipment timeline.

Buyer knowledge base

Organic pigment sourcing guide

Practical, vendor-neutral answers to the questions technical and purchasing teams ask before they buy.

How to choose the right organic pigment

Start from the end use, not the colour name. A pigment that excels in a solvent-based printing ink may bleed or fade in outdoor plastics. Match four things to your formulation: shade direction (red- vs green-shade), tinting strength, opacity, and the fastness profile — heat, light, weather, solvent and migration resistance. For plastics, confirm the processing temperature and warping behaviour in polyolefins. For coatings, check gloss, dispersibility and outdoor durability.

Organic vs inorganic pigments

Organic pigments — phthalocyanines, diarylides, naphthols, DPP and quinacridones — deliver brighter, cleaner, higher-strength shades and are the standard for vivid blues, greens, reds and yellows. Inorganic pigments such as oxides and titanium dioxide offer higher opacity and heat resistance but duller shades. Most industrial colour systems blend both: organics for chroma, inorganics for hiding power and durability.

Reading pigment fastness data

Fastness is rated on standardised scales: light fastness on the 1–8 Blue Wool scale, and heat, weather and chemical resistance on 1–5 grey scales, where higher is better. For outdoor or automotive work, prioritise high light and weather fastness such as DPP reds and phthalocyanine blues. For short-life packaging inks, economical diarylides are often sufficient. Always confirm the values for your own application against the TDS.

Export packing & documentation

For cross-border pigment supply, packing matters as much as chemistry. Standard export packing uses 25 kg bags in cartons or on shrink-wrapped pallets, with clear batch labelling for customs and warehouse handling. Buyers typically request a Technical Data Sheet, Safety Data Sheet (SDS/MSDS), Certificate of Analysis, and where required REACH and RoHS declarations plus the correct HS code before shipment.

Writing a sourcing enquiry that gets a fast quote

The fastest quotes come from complete enquiries. Include the pigment code, application and resin system, current shade reference, required packing, destination country, monthly or annual volume, preferred Incoterms and any compliance documents your import team needs. This lets the export desk qualify the requirement and avoid sampling a grade that is technically close but commercially wrong.
