Solvent and bleed resistance
Industrial vehicles use strong aromatic and ketone solvents; specify pigments that neither dissolve nor bleed into recoats or adjacent panels.
Applications
Pigment recommendations for industrial coatings with technical checks and export enquiry support.
Industrial coatings for machinery, structural steel and protective finishes demand pigments that survive aggressive solvents, baking schedules and chemical exposure while holding colour over years of service. Organic pigments here are valued for clean chromatic shades and strong colouring, but selection hinges on solvent fastness, overspray and recoat resistance, and heat stability during stoving or forced-drying. Buyers exporting into industrial supply chains should confirm bleed resistance in strong solvent vehicles, non-warping behaviour, and consistent performance across two-pack epoxy, polyurethane and alkyd systems.
At a glance
Industrial vehicles use strong aromatic and ketone solvents; specify pigments that neither dissolve nor bleed into recoats or adjacent panels.
Force-dried and baked enamels reach elevated temperatures, so select grades that hold shade and strength through the cure cycle without darkening.
Protective finishes face acids, alkalis and oils; confirm pigment stability so colour and film integrity survive the intended service environment.
Epoxy and polyurethane systems are reactive; verify pigments stay inert, do not accelerate gel and disperse cleanly in both components.

Industrial grades emphasise solvent fastness, bleed resistance and durability under baking and chemical attack, whereas decorative pigments prioritise waterborne dispersion and cost. The same chemical class may offer both, but industrial applications usually need higher-performance, more thoroughly conditioned versions verified for the specific vehicle.
Stoving enamels can expose pigment to significant heat during cure. Pigments with insufficient heat stability may darken, weaken or shift hue. Select grades rated for the oven schedule, and always test the full cure cycle rather than assuming ambient-dry performance carries over.
Selected high-performance organic pigments perform well in epoxy and polyurethane chemical-resistant systems, provided they are inert to the reactive binder and the service chemicals. Confirm resistance to the expected acids, alkalis and solvents, and validate in the finished two-pack film before scaling.
When a fresh coat is applied over a pigmented layer, poorly bleed-resistant pigments can migrate upward and discolour the topcoat. This is common with certain reds in strong solvents. Bleed-resistant grades prevent this, protecting multi-coat industrial finishes from staining and colour contamination.
